All album infos written just like on the original vinyl album covers and labels.
Elkie Brooks is one the greatest female vocalist and especially that was the case in the mid-seventies. Unfortunately she never hit the real big time. I still wonder why.
Well, perhaps this album is kind of the answer. Elkie gives her best shot, surely, but the songs ain't too great and nore is the backing guys and dolls. No hit stuff, no shiny moments, no commercial success.
It's like listening to Maggie Bell. Great voice but (mostly) weak material. With better producing, songwriting and backing musicians they both could have challenge Janis at the time. But that never happenened. This is a good album and nice to listen to now and then, but nothing more. It's a pity.
However, I have specific memories about Elkie. 1973 she was a singer in the group Vinegar Joe and they performed in Finland that summer in Ruisrock Festival. What a performance Elkie gave us teenagers and how sexy was she! I still have those worn-out newspaper clips left... :-)
