Question: Why did you start web site like this in the first place?

Well, it didn't exist :-^

Actually, the idea came some years ago when I was after some simple info for some of my favourite artist. Didn't find any. There were plenty of sites but usually quite messy or the basic info like birthdays were hidden behind zillions of links and heavy graphics. I found myself badly frustrated and thought something should be done.

Q: I didn't find my fave on your site. Are you lazy? =)

Yes I am. <grin>

But the reason for your problem is obvious: there are some thousands of artists waiting to be straighten and writing down. Maintaining this site is my dear hobby but hobby only — it's not the full time job.

Fortunately though, resolving this kind of case is simple. Just tell me who is the person You're missing and I'll find that info to you. Mostly that happens during the same day. In fact, that's just the way how it goes. Many of the recent updates is now available on site because someone needed that info. So feel free to notice me by mail anytime.

Q: I'm bored to click those alphabet links and scroll upside down on pages. Why don't you offer some nice Search function there?

That's due to technic how the site is build. Digest section is called database all right, but in fact it's not. All the data is carried out by typing (boring!) HTML code. »Search function» that you're longing for requires real database system (such as MySQL), which is a whole different ball game.

However, I'm examining that possibility and probably in the near future things will change. When the mount of info constantly grows, using real database might be the only reasonable solution.

Q: Nah, this site haven't even won any Site Awards?

How many beauty contest YOU actually won at school? LOL.

No, it has not. As you may see, Rockweb is nothing like graphical crash-boom-bang site and as far as I can see never will be. This site is an information one. Its purpose is to share basic info and therefore GUI has to remain as light and quick as possible.

And to be honest my Finnish-written weblog was nominated (Feb. 2004) here in Finland. Didn't win, though.

Q: You have a fine site and good work is done. But can I help you somehow?

You can, for sure:

1. In case You didn't find Your fave, please do not just fade away! Instead, send e-mail or write to guestbook. Missing info will be found quickly.
2. All the given information on site is checked from various sources. Despite all that, sometimes some disinfo might occur. In that kind of case, please give feedback right away.
3. More visitors means more stuff considering. Tell all about this site.
4. If You have any ideas, hints or tips for developing the site, feel free to suggest.

Q: Why there's no ads on site?

Simple. I hate ads. Also, this site is personal one (and partly private) and always will be! However, some »advertises» might be found somewhere on site now and then. But you ever won't see Big Fancy logos here.
